O Tampa Bay Lightning conseguiu o que todo time queria neste meio de temporada. Estar 20 pontos à frente do quarto colocado, o Detroit Red Wings. Isso não aconteceu por demérito das outras equipes, senão por puro e concreto talento e merecimento da equipe de Tampa Bay. Contudo o momento não é de calmaria e é necessário um chacoalhão no time. Sempre fui muito crítico em relação à defesa dos Bolts. Apesar de termos D's muito bons como Hedman e Stralman, temos também incógnitas como Sergachev e Dotchin, afinal não se sabe até onde jovens como eles podem produzir. Para completar temos jogadores que não são incógnita alguma, como Coburn e Sustr que têm tido um desempenho que... bem, que já era esperado.
Namestnikov tem sido um dos melhores no ataque dos Bolts
Já no ataque, temos um time ótimo. Stamkos-Namestnikov-Kucherov foi a linha sensação de várias semanas da NHL. Jogaram muito. No entanto, nesta liga ninguém é bobo. Os rivais do Lightning estão aprendendo a jogar e a se defender contra essa ameaça potencial. Isso ficou evidente nos jogos contra Montreal (L 2-1) e Ottawa (L 6-3). Ok, talvez você me diga que isso é influência das road trips, que o cansaço bate em jogos back-to-back, dentre outras possíveis explicações. É verdade. O cansaço bate mesmo... mas em todos os times. É preciso lembrar que quem estava no segundo jogo em dias seguidos era o Ottawa ontem. Como os próprios defensores dos Bolts falaram, eles armaram uma armadilha na zona defensiva do Lightning e deu certo. Essas derrotas parecem não prejudicar tanto a equipe. Não se espera que um time vença todas as partidas da temporada, e talvez isso seja um pouco do meu coração como torcedor falando, porém é hora de mudar o jogo. Dar uma virada na maneira de jogar e surpreender a todos na liga. Já sabemos que podemos contar com um ataque poderoso, e que temos um excelente entrosamento no ataque. Mudar a estratégia pode não ser tão difícil quanto parece. O treinador Jon Cooper terá essa chance hoje contra os Red Wings em Detroit na Little Caesar's Arena. Se Tampa Bay sair de lá com uma vitória, serão 7 pontos conquistados dos últimos 10 disputados. Não seria nada mal. Este é o momento de afirmação, que nos levará aos playoffs. Vamos torcer, Lightning fans!
Hello, Lightning fans!!! Three wins in a row! That's what the Lightning have been up to these last days. The team has been playing fast with its sharp attacking line. The defense still has a little to be improved, but with the return of Victor Hedman, we got much stronger. Speechless, but not in a good way! That's how the Lightning fans were after a sounding 7-3 loss to Philadelphia and a 4-3 loss to Boston. In the later game the Lightning had two big issues to deal with: the injuries of Victor Hedman and Tyler Johnson. The team had the lead twice, but couldn't hold the Bruins until the 3rd. Now, the Lightning was defeated by the Bruins in the las 9 games in Boston. Let's just hope that it doesn't happen again and try a comeback in Tampa.

Jogo muito difícil. Todos sabem que o Pittsburgh Penguins é uma franquia muito importante dentro da liga, o quão grande eles são e provavelmente todos os olhos estavam voltados para este jogo. O Lightning começou não tão bem e sofreu 3 gols em sequência. Apesar de ter jogado bem, sair de um problema desse tamanho fica complicado e os Penguins venceram 6-3.
Lightning vs Senators
Mais uma vez os Bolts começaram atrás no placar, com os Senators marcando no primeiro período, mas diferentemente do jogo em Pittsburgh, o time de Tampa pôde se recuperar com uma partida impressionante de todo o time. Hedman marcou o primeiro do Lightning e, depois do segundo gol dos Senators, Johnson (duas vezes) e Stamkos com uma jogada incrível definiram o placar final. Lightning 4-2.
Lightning vs Canadiens
Depois dos Playoffs na temporada passada, onde o Lightning foi eliminado por 4-0, e do primeiro jogo entre as equipes nesta temporada onde os Bolts destruíram o time de Montreal por 7-1, a rivalidade entre as duas equipes que disputam a liderança da Divisão Atlântica creseu. Apesar de Tampa Bay ter atirado mais a gol, foram os Habs que marcaram primeiro com Dale Weise. No 2o período os Bolts marcaram 4 vezes com J.T. Brown, Johnson (2 vezes) e Brett Connolly. Max Pacioretty marcou no 3o período e deu números finais à partida. Lightning 4-2.

The Tampa Bay Lightning played three out of the four road trip games this week, having won against the Senators and against the Canadiens and trailing against the Penguins.
Lightning vs Penguins
Really hard game. Everybody knows how important the Pittsburgh Penguins are as a franchise in the league, how big they are and probably all the eyes were turned into this game. The Lightning started off not so well and allowed three unanswered goals. Despite playing well, getting out of a problem that big became complicated and the Penguins won 6-3.
Lightning vs Senators
Once again the Bolts started the match behind on the score, with the Senators scoring in the first period, but differently from the game in Pittsburgh, Tampa Bay could recover with an impressive game from the whole team. Hedman scored the first Lightning's goal, and after the second goal from the Senators, Johnson (twice) and Stamkos with an amazing play settled the final score. Lightning 4-2.
Lightning vs Canadiens
After the playoffs last season where the Lightning was swept away by the Canadiens 4-0, and the first game between the two teams this season where the Bolts crushed Montreal's squad by 7-1, the rivalry between the two leader teams in the Atlantic Division has grown. Despite outshooting Montreal, the Habs could score first Dale Weise. In the 2nd period the Lightning scored 4 times with J.T. Brown, Johnson (twice) and Brett Connolly. Max Pacioretty scored in the 3rd period and gave final nubers to the score: Lightning 4-2.

Feliz ano novo! Com certeza foi uma boa virada de ano para os torcedores do Tampa Bay Lightning que viram seu time vencer por 5 a 1 a equipe do Buffalo Sabres em Buffalo.
O jogo no entanto não foi tão fácil quanto o placar sugere e começou bem equilibrado entre as equipes. Os Bolts jogaram com Andrey Vasilevskiy, chamado do Syracuse Crunch, time afiliado ao Lightning, para substituir Ben Bishop como medida de precaução para não haver nenhum tipo de resquício de sua lesão.
O novato foi muito bem durante todo o jogo, dando segurança ao time e sofrendo apenas 1 gol dos 11 tiros a gol feitos pelo time de Buffalo.
O Lightning abriu o placar aos 7:48 do 1o período com Mathew Carle, recebendo assistência de Ondrej Palat. Quase 5 minutos depois o Sabres chegou ao empate com um gol de Power Play de Tyler Ennis. O primeiro período terminou empatado: 1 - 1.
O 2o período foi talvez o mais disputado de todos, onde os goleiros brilharam. Um total de 10 defesas, 6 de Vasilevskiy e 4 de Enroth. Quando tudo indicava que o período terminaria empatado, uma falta com pouco mais de 1 minuto para o fim do período mudou as coisas e Ondrej Palat marcou seu nono gol na temporada com a assistência de Tyler Johnson. 2 - 1.
A partir do 3o período começou o show dos Bolts. Aos 5:20 jogados, Brett Connoly aproveitou o bate-rebate na zona ofensiva e empurrou o disco para as redes. 3 - 1. Três minutos depois, após um tiro de Tyler Johnson e uma defesa parcial de Enroth, Nikita Kucherov aproveita o rebote e amplia. 4 - 1. E com pouco menos de 2 minutos faltando para o fim do jogo, novamente Nikita Kucherov sacramentou a goleada com mais uma assistência de Ondrej Palat. 5 - 1.
O time de Tampa Bay vem mostrando muita força em seu elenco, o que surpreende se considerarmos que boa parte do time é jovem. Vasilevskiy, Kucherov, Johnson, Palat, Stamkos, dentre outros têm menos de 25 anos e estão levando o Lightning a liderar sua divisão de maneira surpreendente.

O próximo jogo dos Bolts será amanhã, sexta-feira contra um dos principais times da liga, o Pittsburgh, fora de casa às 7 da noite (10 da noite no Brasil). Será um jogo importantíssimo para a equipe se firmar como uma das candidatas aos playoffs desse ano, e que promete nos trazer muitas emoções.
Happy new year! It surely was for all the Lightning fans that could see their team crush the Sabres 5 - 1 in Buffalo.
However, the game wasn't as easy as the final score suggests and started off very balanced between the teams. The Bolts played with Andrey Vasilevskiy, called from the Syracuse Crunch, replacing Ben Bishop as a precaution, so Bishop can stay safe from any injury.
The youngster played very well during the whole game, making the team feel safe and accepting only one goal from the 11 Buffalo's shots on goal.
The Lightning opened the score ate 7:48 in the 1st period with Matt Carle after a Ondrej Palat's assist. About 5 minutes later, the sabres tied up the game with a Power Play goal from Tyler Ennis. The 1st period ended 1 - 1.
The 2nd period was perhaps the most balanced, where the goalies shined in the game with a total of 10 saves, 6 from Vasilevskiy and 4 from Enroth. When the period seemed it was going to end up tied, Ondrej Palat scored his 9th goal in the season after a Tyler Johnson's assist. 2 - 1.
Once the 3rd period started, it was the Bolts' showtime. At 5:20, Brett Connoly pushed the puck to the net after a skirmish in front of Enroth's goal. 3 - 1. Three minutes later, after a Tyler Johnson's shot, Nikita Kucherov took the rebound and made it 4 - 1 to the Lightning. And with about 2 minutes to go in the 3rd, Nikita Kucherov settled the final score with one more assist from Palat. 5 - 1.

The Lightning has been showing great strenght in its roster, what is very surprising, once big part of the team is young. Vasilevskiy, Kucherov, Johnson, Palat, Stamkos, among others are under 25 and they are leading the Bolts to the division top.
The Bolts' next game is going to be tomorrow, on Friday, against one of the top teams in the league, the Pittsburgh Penguins. The puck is slated to drop at 7 p.m. It will be a very important game to the Lightning as a candidate to the playoffs this year and it promises to bring us a lot of emotions.

O time de Jon Cooper não conseguiu encaixar o jogo logo de primeira e com uma defesa dando alguns vacilos no primeiro período, nem Ben Bishop pôde impedir os dois gols dos Leafs, o primeiro de Mike Santorelli e o segundo de Joffrey Lupul.
No entanto, o time de Tampa não ficou só olhando Toronto jogar e superou o número de tiros a gol do time canadense por 15 a 4.
No segundo período o time da Florida conseguiu diminuir com Ryan Callahan num gol de Power Play, pegando o rebote no ar de um tiro de Stamkos. Três minutos mais tarde Victor Hedman empatou o jogo num tiro onde o puck acabou desviando no patins de Valtteri Filppula. 2 - 2.
Somente no terceiro período o Lightning conseguiu sacramentar a vitória com Steven Stamkos desviando o tiro de Mathew Carle direto para as redes.

Esse jogo foi um dos melhores da temporada e curiosamente não foi a linha Kucherov-Johnson-Palat que foi decisiva no jogo de ontem, mas sim a dupla Stamkos e Callahan que lideraram a equipe de Tampa Bay numa virada incrível.

It was a tough start for the Tampa Bay Lightning yesterday at Amalie Arena. Jon Cooper's team couldn't find its game right at first. With the defence being too loose, not even Ben Bishop could stop the Leafs from scoring twice in the 1st period, first with Mike Santorelli and later with Joffrey Lupul.
However, Tampa Bay wasn't only watching Toronto play and outshot the canadian team by 15 - 4.
In the 2nd period the team from Florida could make it a one goal contest with Ryan Callahan shooting the puck that was bouncing to the net after an outstanding shot from Stamkos. Three minutes later Victor Hedman scored with a shot where the puck got in after deflecting on Valtteri Filppula's skate. 2 - 2.
Only in the 3rd period the Lightning could score the game winning goal with Stamkos deflecting a Mathew Carle's shot right to the net.
Yesterday's game was one of the best in the season so far and curiously it wasn't the line Kucherov-Johnson-Palat that decided the game for the Bolts, but Stamkos and Callahan led the team to an outstanding comeback victory.
The next Lightning's game will be against the Buffalo Sabres in Buffalo, where Tampa Bay's team start a road trip far from home.

Mais uma vez vimos a linha ofensiva Kucherov-Johnson-Palat trabalhar bem, dando oportunidades agudas de ataque ao Lightning. Logo no 1o período Ondrej Palat rouba o puck na zona ofensiva e o desliza para Kucherov mandar para as redes com 11:10 restantes. É o sexto gol de Kucherov nos últimos oito jogos pelos Bolts. Alguns minutos depois, Ben Bishop, que retornava ao gol do Lightning depois de quatro jogos devido a uma contusão, mostrou boa forma e parou um tiro a queima-roupa do ataque dos Canes.
No segundo período Bishop voltou a ser de grande importância. Após Gudas perder o puck na zona defensiva o tiro dos Canes para mais uma vez no goleiro dos Bolts. O Lightning teve uma chance de Power-Play no fim do 2o período onde numa assistência de Killorn, Stamkos acertou a trave.
Já no terceiro período, numa jogada individual de Alex Killorn aos 5 minutos jogados, com um tiro certeiro ele acerta as redes e amplia o marcador para Tampa Bay. 2-0.
Com menos de 6 minutos para o fim do jogo, Andrej Sekera diminui para Carolina, mas a reação dos Canes parou por aí. Lightning 2-1.
O próximo jogo do Tampa Bay Lightning será na segunda-feira contra o Toronto Maple Leafs, às 10:30 da noite em Tampa.
The Tampa Bay Lightning beat the Carolina Hurricanes 2-1 yesterday night at Amalie Arena. With goals of Nikita Kucherov and Alex Killorn in the first and third periods respectively, the Bolts got 2 more very important points to keep itself as one of the top teams in the Atlantic Division.
Once more we saw the attacking line Kucherov-Johnson-Palat working well and providing the Lightning very good attacking opportunities. Right at the begining of the 1st period Ondrej Palat stole the puck in the offensive zone and slide it to Kucherov send it to the net with 11:10 to go. It's Kucherov's sixth goal in the last 8 games for the Bolts. Some minutes later, Ben Bishop, that returned from injury after four games, showed he is in great shape and stopped a close shot from the Canes attacking line.
In the second period Bishop was very important once again. After Gudas lost the puck in the defensive zone,
the Canes' shot stopped again in Bishop's gloves. The lightning had a Power Play chance where Stamkos hit the post after an assist from Alex Killorn.
Later on, in the third period, an individual play by Alex Killorn made the Lightning's advantage bigger with 5 minutes played. 2-0 for Tampa Bay.
With less than 6 minutes to the end, Andrej Sekera made it a one goal game, but the Canews reaction stopped right there. Lighting 2-1.
Tampa Bay Lightning's next game will be against the Toronto Maple Leafs, at 7:30 p.m., in Tampa.

That's how we can call Tyler Johnson's game last night at the Amalie Arena. The Tampa Bay's center scored three times and with Nikita Kucherov built the 4-3 win over Pittsburgh.
The Bolts started the game really focused and skating for their lives. The victory was more than needed to give back the team's high self-esteem and it becomes even more important when you play a top league opponent.
The Lightning scored at 06:54 in the 1st period to take the lead and made it 2-0 at 19:56 in this same period. Both goals from Johnson.
The 2nd period came and right at the beginning Nikita Kucherov scored again, giving the Bolts a 3-0 lead. After that, Pittsburgh's coach replaced the goalie Fleury, putting Zatkoff on the ice. Tyler Johnson decided that it was still not enough though and increased the score at 2:37 in the 2nd, achieving it's first hat trick this season the second in his career.

The Penguins that looked a pale team reacted at 10:15 with Patric Hornqvist scoring.
The Bolts came to the 3rd period different. The team seemed to be tired after so much effort in the previous two periods and the Penguins could take advantage from that. They scored twice, with Chris Kunitz and Kris Letang, but weren't able to tie the game, losing its 7th game in the season.
Tampa Bay's team suffered a lot to get by in the 3rd and its defense must be more careful avoiding goals in counter-attack plays. The team has been winning thanks to the more than efficient attacking line Kucherov-Johnson-Palat that has scored more than 50% of the Lightning goals.
The Lightning's next game is going to be in Tampa against the Carolina Hurricanes on Saurday, Dec, 27th,
É assim que podemos chamar o jogo de Tyler Johnson noite passada na Amalie Arena. O central do time de Tampa Bay marcou 3 vezes e junto com Nikita Kucherov construiu a vitória por 4-3 sobre o time de Pittsburgh.
Os Bolts começaram o jogo focados e "voando" no gelo. A vitória era mais do que necessária para devolver ao time a confiança e a auto-estima, e se torna ainda mais importante quando o jogo é contra um oponente que é um dos líderes da liga.
O Lightning abriu o placar aos 06:54 no 1o período e ampliou aos 19:56 neste mesmo período. Ambos os gols de Johnson.
Logo no começo do 2o período, Nikita Kucherov marcou novamente dando aos Bolts uma vantagem de 3-0. Após isso, o técnico de Pittsburgh substituiu o goleiro Fleury, colocando Zatkoff no gelo. Tyler Johnson no entanto achou que isso não era o suficiente e aumentou o placar aos 2:37 do 2o período, alcançando seu primeiro hat-trick nesta temporada, o segundo de sua carreira.

Hockey is a fascinating game. That's something I could experience this year and get addicted to it. But, as you know it's very difficult to find people that know and enjoy hockey in Brazil.
What we usually know first from hockey is that it's a very rough game where fighting is allowed. That is the vision that I had from my childhood. However, it's a little bit more than that.
Hockey is a very exciting and fast game, where the puck does not stop for goal kicks or throw-in as in soccer. Every penalty is punished with the player being absent for 2 or 5 minutes and the result is always unpredictable.
When I was younger and played NHL 98 on my Genesis console, I used to play with Montreal. It was the first team that I liked. At the time, I didn't know anything about the history of this team nor the rules of hockey.
Many years later, I had the chance of going to the US and I was decided to attend to a hockey game. Once I discovered Tampa was a close city to where I was, I immediatly bought the tickets to a game. It was one of the most amazing experiences in my life. The game was Washington Capitals vs. Tampa Bay Lightning on January 9th, 2014.
The result was 4-3 to the Capitals, but the defeat did not stop me from being ecstatic with the organization and the fighting spirit of the team. Since then I'm a fan of the Lightning. It's not only a matter of choice for me, but a matter of being thankful to the best sportive event I've ever attended to.
Hockey is not a well known sport in Brazil and it's very hard to find fans to talk about it. That's one of the reasons that made me create this blog. It's a way to share my opinions and never stop learning about the hockey world.
Hockey é um jogo fascinante. Isso é algo que eu pude experimentar este ano e ficar aficionado por hockey. Mas, como vocês sabem, é bem difícil encontrar pessoas que conhecem e gostem de hockey no Brasil.
O que geralmente se sabe sobre hockey aqui é que é um jogo muito bruto e que brigar é permitido. Essa é a visão que eu tinha na minha infância. Contudo, nós sabemos que vai um pouco além disso.
Hockey é um jogo rápido e animado, onde o puck (disco) não para por causa de tiros de meta ou laterais como no futebol. Toda falta é punida com a ausência do jogador por 2 ou 5 minutos e o resultado é sempre imprevisível.
Quando eu era criança e jogava NHL 98 no meu Mega-Drive, eu costumava jogar com o Montreal. Este foi o primeiro time que eu gostei. Na época eu não conhecia nada sobre este time ou sobre a história e regras do hockey.
Muitos anos mais tarde, eu tive a chance de viajar para os Estados Unidos e eu estava decidido a ir a um jogo de hockey. Assim que eu descobri que Tampa era uma cidade próxima de onde eu estava, eu comprei imediatamente os ingressos para um jogo. Foi uma das experiências mais incríveis da minha vida. O jogo foi Washington Capitals vs. Tampa Bay Lightning no dia 9 de janeiro de 2014.
O resultado foi 4-3 para os Capitals, mas a derrota não me impediu de ficar embasbacado com a organização do evento e o espírito de luta do time. Desde então eu me tornei um fã do Lightning. Não é somente uma questão de escolha para mim, mas também de ser grato da melhor experiência em eventos esportivos que eu já vi.
O hockey não é um esporte conhecido no Brasil, sendo muito difícil achar fans ou torcedores aqui para conversar sobre este esporte. Esta é uma das razões que me fizeram criar este blog. É uma maneira de compartilhar minhas opiniões e nunca parar de aprender sobre o mundo do hockey.

A free agent is a player who is able to sign with any team not being under contract to any specific team.
There are 3 kinds of free agents:
Unrestricted free agent: players without a team;
Restricted free agent: it's a player that is in a team, but has the permision to solicit offers from other teams, so the current team can match the new contract that was offered. If it happens the player must remain with its current team;
Undrafted free agents: players that are not drafted on a league's annual draft of amauter players are considered unrestricted free agents and can sign with any team.
Free agency turns out to be a great way of reinforcement either for teams with a lower budget or to fill spots the team needs to a specific purpose. A good example is the recently hired goalie Evgene Nabokov. He's signed for a shorter period, knowing that what the Lightning really intend to is preparing the youngster goalies.

Esses dias eu estava pensando... esse intervalo entre temporadas é um saco! Nós temos que falar sobre alguma coisa! Então eu percebi que poderíamos falar sobre o time que estamos montando para esta temporada.
Porém, existem alguns termos nos EUA que para nós aqui no Brasil não são tão fáceis de se entender, então eu decidi explicá-los um pouco.
No post de hoje nós vamos falar de "Free Agency".
Um "free agent" é um jogador que está apto a assinar com qualquer time, não estando sob contrato com nenhum time específico.
Existem 3 tipos de "free agents":
Unrestricted free agent: jogadores sem um time;
Restricted free agent: é um jogador que está em um time, mas tem a permissão de solicitar ofertas de outros times, então o atual time tem a oportunidade de equiparar os valores do novo contrato. Se isso ocorrer, o jogador tem que permanecer no time atual;
Undrafted free agents: jogadores que não são "draftados" ou escolhidos no draft anual de jogadores amadores são considerados "unrestricted free agents" e podem assinar com qualquer time.
Os free agents são uma boa fonte de reforços para times com um orçamento menor ou para times que precisam preencher uma posição com um propósito específico, como por exemplo o goleiro recentemente contratado Evgene Nabokov. Ele assinou por um período menor sabendo que o que o Lightning realmente quer é preparar os goleiros mais jovens.

Disastrous! That's how we can call last night's game between the Tampa Bay Lightning and the Calgary Flames.
The Bolts came from an amazing victory over the Montreal Canadiens that assured them a spot in the playoffs and every fan that was there at the Tampa Bay Times Forum was expecting a huge presentation. Well, they did had that presentation, but from Calgary's goalie Karri Ramo.
He saved 32 of the 33 shots against Calgary's goal and guaranteed the victory to his team.
Of course we had the greatest part to be blamed on. And we should be! The Lighting didn't seem so connected to the game and let's say "it didn't kick in". The first goal of the game can show that pretty well when #30 Ben Bishop left the goal and with a lousy pass gave the puck to Calgary's player to score.
We all know that after clinching berth to the playoffs, teams usually feel relieved. There are 76 games (so far) wraped up in one, and when you get it, you tend to relax.
Ok, we slipped. We understand, but as Jon Cooper said, the season is not near the end at all!
Let's just put ourselves together and focus on the Dallas Stars on saturday night. The most difficult part we have aready done. We must achieve 2nd place in the standings if we want some advantage in the playoffs and we know we can do it.

Os Bolts vinham de uma vitória incrível contra o Montreal Canadiens que assegurou a eles uma vaga nos playoffs e cada fan que estava no Tampa Bay Times Forum esperava uma apresentação incrível. Bem, eles viram essa apresentação, mas do goleiro do Calgary Flames Karri Ramo.
Ele defendeu 32 dos 33 tiros contra o gol do Calgary e garantiu a vitória para o seu time.
É claro que nós ficamos com a maior parte da culpa sobre nossos ombros. E devemos ficar mesmo! O Lightning não parecia conectado no jogo e, vamos dizer que "não deu liga". O primeiro gol do jogo mostra isso bem quando o #30 Ben Bishop saiu do gol e com um passe horroroso entregou o puck para o jogador do Calgary marcar.
Todos sabemos que após atingir a classificação aos playoffs, os times geralmente se sentem aliviados. São 76 jogos na temporada (até agora) resumidos a um e quando você vence esse jogo você tende a relaxar.
Ok, escorregamos. Nós entendemos, mas como Jon Cooper disse, a temporada não está nem perto do fim!
Vamos nos concentrar e focar no Dallas Stars sábado à noite. A parte mais difícil, nós já fizemos. Nós temos que alcançar o 2o lugar na classificação se quisermos alguma vantagem nos playoffs. E nós sabemos que nós podemos conseguir isso!

The game was tied 3-3 and with an uncanny performance from #30 Ben Bishop the Bolts could achieve the 65 points in the standings. Here are the highlights:

Depois eu vou postar algumas fotos. Agora, vamos falar sobre a partida de ontem contra os Senators que acabou com uma vitória do Lightning no Shoot Out. O jogo estava empatado por 3-3 e com uma performance incrível do #30 Ben Bishop os Bolts puderam atingir os 65 pontos na classificação. Aqui estão os melhores momentos:
The Tampa Bay Lightning couldn't match the Rangers and had a 4-3 lost.
In the 1st period the game ended tied by 2-2 with goals of Rick Nash and Mats Zuccarello (PPG) for the NY Rangers and #9 Tyler Johnson (PPG) and #18 Ondrej Palatfor the Lightning.
The second period was completely dominated by the Rangers that used the power plays to score twice with Chris Kreider and Benoit Pouliot.
In the last period #51 Valtteri Filppula scored and the Bolts tried really hard to tie up the game, but they couldn't. As you can see in this video, and in some others, we are having a poor puck management when playing in the defensive zone. I do understand that the team is young and it's normal to have some lack of confidence, but if the team wants to qualify for the playoffs, we can't suffer these kinds of goals.
Now the Tampa Bay Lightning has 50 points in the standings, being the 2nd place in its division. We'll face the Canucks in Vancouver on the first day of the year. The puck is slated to drop at 10 PM (USA time). In Brazil it will be about midnight. LET'S GO LIGHTNING!!!

No primeiro período o jogo terminou empatado em 2-2 com gols de Rick Nash e Mats Zuccarello (PPG) pelos Rangers e do #9 Tyler Johnson (PPG) e #18 Ondrej Palat pelos Lightning.
O segundo período foi completamente dominado pelos Rangers que aproveitaram os Power Plays para marcar com Chris Kreider e Benoit Pouliot.
No último período o #51 Valteri Filppula marcou e os Bolts tentaram bastante conseguir o gol de empate, mas não puderam. Como vocês podem ver neste vídeo e em alguns outros, estamos tendo um domínio de puck e passes ruins quando jogamos na zona defensiva. Eu entendo que o time é jovem e é normal ter uma certa insegurança, mas se o time quiser se classificar para os playoffs, não podemos sofrer mais gols assim.
Agora o Tampa Bay Lightning tem 50 pontos na classificação, sendo o segundo colocado na sua divisão. Nós enfrentaremos os Canucks em Vancouver no primeiro dia do ano. O jogo deve começar às 10 da noite (no horário americano). No Brasil será por volta de meia-noite. LET'S GO LIGHTNING!!!
Yeah, as it was said in the last post, it was a great game! The Canadiens won the match in the shoot out in an amazingly equal game.
The first period was warm and didn't offered us much. But in the second period the teams got in the game! Both goals were scored in this period, first the Canadiens scored with Tomas Plekanec with about 5 minutes played and the Lightning tied up the match with a wrist shot by #26 Martin St. Louis with about 8 minutes to go.
In the third period and in the overtime the teams had plenty of opportunities, but the goalies held the draw and led the game into the shoot out.
With an amazing performance by Price that defended the three shots from the Bolts and with a goal of Lars Eller, the Canadiens won the game and now are only one point behind us.
Next game is today against the NY Rangers in the Tampa Bay Times Forum. LET'S GO LIGHTNING!!!
É, como foi dito no último post, foi um grande jogo! Os Canadiens venceram a partida no shoot out em um jogo incrivelmente igual.
O primeiro período foi morno e não nos ofereceu muita coisa. Mas no segundo período os times entraram no jogo! Ambos os gols saíram neste período, primeiro os Canadiens marcaram com Tomas Plekanec com cerca de 5 minutos a o Lightning empatou a partida com um wrist shot do #26 Martin St. Louis com cerca de 8 minutos restantes.
No terceiro peíodo e no overtime os times tiveram muitas oportunidades, mas os goleiros seguraram o empate e levaram a partida para o shoot out.
Com uma performance incrível de Price que defendeu os três tiros dos Bolts e com um gol de Lars Eller, os Canadiens venceram a partida e agora estão apenas um ponto atrás de nós.
O próximo jogo é contra o NY Rangers no Tampa Bay Times Forum. LET'S GO LIGHTNING!!!
And I know it is indeed a merry christmas for the Lightning fans! I'm sorry for the delay of this post, but you know... christmas, holidays, vacation, things get a bit busy on these days.
And the Tampa Bay Lightning kept busy last game achieving its 5 streak winning game with a 6-1 victory against the Panthers in Sunrise.
Sean Bergenheim scored a power play goal and gave the Panthers the lead, but about 20 seconds later #17 Alex Killorn tied up the match and the 1st period ended like that.
The second period started with a Lightning massacre! At 3:22 #9 Tyler Johnson tipped in a #77 Victor Hedman's assist. At 8:01 #51 Valteri Filppula now tipped in a #16 Teddy Purcell's assist and at 12:07 #26 Martin St. Louis with a slapshot scored the 4-1 for the Lightnings.
In the 3rd period # 23 J. Brown scored twice, first with a wristshot and later he tipped in the assistance from #56 Nikita Kucherov and settled the score.
The Tampa Bay Lightning now reached 49 points, standing on the 2nd position in the Eastern Atlantic Division. The next game will be on saturday, 12/28 against the Canadiens at the Tampa Bay Times Forum. It promises to be a great match! LET'S GO LIGHTNING!!!

Yesterday the Tampa Bay Lightning won its 22nd victory at Tampa Bay Times Forum against the Carolina Hurricanes by 2-3. The Hurricanes started leading by a wrist shot from Jiri Tlusty with 4:35 in the 1st period. But as time passed by the Bolts got in the game and tied up the match also with a wrist shot from #77 Victor Hedman. After saving 18 out of 19 shots the goallie J Peters could see the Carolina Hurricanes take the lead once again with another wrist shot goal from Jiri Tlusty at 10:11 in the 2nd period. The massacre continued, but the Bolts couldn't reach the goal in the 2nd period. The third period would be decisive for the TB Lightning, and coach Jon Cooper knew it. So the order was... SHOOT! And they did! 17 shots against 8 from the Carolina team guaranteed the draw in regular time, when #26 Martin St. Louis scored with 7:56 in the 3rd period. The overtime had one shot for each side, but after a big hit on his opponent, #7 Radko Gudas scored with a really strong slap shot! The bolts achived its 4th win in a row and now are going to play at Panthers on monday, 23rd. Como muitos devem imaginar, aqui no Brasil é difícil termos acesso a esportes menos praticados aqui, principalmente um que envolve um rinque de patinação como o Hockey. Como o foco é sempre no futebol, fica difícil conhecermos todo o vocabulário do esporte. Por isso, resolvi fazer esta postagem com os tipos de tiro a gol que existem no Hockey.
Chega a ser até óbvio que um tiro no Hockey é uma tentativa de um jogador de fazer um gol. Isso pode ser feita de várias maneiras. Vejamos 3 delas:
Shovel - O shovel é simplesmente o tiro com o movimento levando o puck (disco) ao gol. Sem truques, um tiro simples;
Wrist Shot - É quando o puck é impulsionado em direção ao gol pelo "calcanhar" do taco e o movimento de giro das mãos com o taco fazem o puck girar;
Slap shot - É o mais difícil e mais "telegrafado" tipo de tiro, onde o jogador deve levantar o taco na altura do ombro ou mais alto e no momento da batida com o taco, colocando um pouco do peso em cima do taco, causando um efeito como se fosse de uma mola, impulsionando o puck numa velocidade muito grande.

As many of you can imagine, it's a little more difficult to have access to sports that aren't that practiced here in Brazil as Hockey for instance. The focus is always on soccer and it's hard for us to know all the names and words from the hockey game. That's why I decided to post the kinds of shots from a hockey game, so brazilian readers can get used to the names.
It's pretty obvious that a shot is a goal attempt and it can be done in several ways. Let's see 3 of them:
Shovel - It's a simple shot raising the puck to the goal. No tricks, a simple shot;
Wrist shot - It's when the puck goes towards the goal, hit by the stick with a spinning movement from the wrist, that makes the puck spin as well;
Slap shot - It's the most difficult and telegraphed shot there is, where the player must raise the stick until the same level of his shoulders (or above) and hit the puck putting some weight on the stick and causing a spring effect, that shots the puck in a much higher speed.
